Last night I had the privilege of covering the BioMed SA Palmaz Award banquet.

In recognition of his contributions to the field of medicine and his pioneering role in using intraosseous vascular access to improve patient care and save lives on a global basis, the Founder and Chief Medical Officer of Vidacare Corporation, Dr. Larry Miller, was the 2012 recipient of the prestigious BioMed SA Julio Palmaz Award for Innovation in Healthcare and the Biosciences. Dr. Miller accepted the award, which is named after Palmaz Stent inventor Julio Palmaz, M.D., at BioMedSA’s annual Palmaz Award dinner in San Antonio.

Stage Lighting was typical tungsten spotlights so I set up a pair of Elinchrom RX600s in the back of the room gelled with 1/2 CTO sheets and for shots of the audience this year I wanted to get some light on them for their reaction.  I placed two Canon 600EX RTs facing the audience from either side of the stage and also gelled them 1/2 CTO. I triggered these from the 600EX RT attached to my camera with flash turned off in some cases. You can see the difference in the light on the audience in the photo above. It also provided accent lighting to the subjects at the podium on stage.
